Every spatial recording starts as a handful of capsule signals that mean nothing on their own. Encode turns them into an ambisonic field, up to 10th order, using the geometry of the array you actually used.
Built-in geometries for tetrahedral, ORTF, ESMA, Decca, Hamasaki and IRT arrays, or describe your own — by angle, or by the capsule spacings you measured with calipers.
