View

View shows what's in the field, as a picture. Audio passes through untouched, so it can go anywhere in the chain and will report exactly what reaches it.

It answers the things that are genuinely hard to hear. Where is the energy in this mix? Is that sound where I think it is? Is this field directional, or a wash? Is anything happening above my ears at all?

There are two ways to look. The annulus shows direction — where energy sits around and above you, right now. The spectrogram shows the same field over time, so you can watch a moment arrive and see which direction it came from. The controls set what you see; none of them touch what you hear.

No head tracking, ever. View reports the field as it is at that point in the chain, not as it would sound to a turning head. That is what makes it a measurement rather than an impression.
